Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's first title following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates he has won 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his ability to perform at the top level was over.
But the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a close final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
